Residence Hall Council (RHC)
The Residence Hall Council gives students a voice in shaping life in Fujairah University’s residence halls. Council members are elected by their fellow residents and bring residents’ ideas and feedback to discussions about how to improve hall life.
The council helps build a welcoming community where students can get to know one another and feel at home. Members plan and promote programs and activities based on residents’ interests, creating opportunities for students to connect, get involved, and contribute to their hall community.
What does the Residence Hall Council do?
Welcoming Residents and Building Community
The Residence Hall Council helps new students settle in by hosting a welcome event, leading hall tours, or pairing new residents with returning students who can answer questions. Throughout the semester, the council supports organizing game nights, cultural evenings, and other activities to help residents to get to know one another.
Supporting Academic Success and Well-Being
The council organizes peer study groups and exam-week study sessions or coordinates the use of a common room as a quiet study space. It can also host group walks and fitness challenges or partner with Student Affairs to offer workshops on managing stress and living with roommates.
Improving Residence Hall Life
The council holds resident forums and runs short surveys to gather feedback on study spaces, laundry facilities, and shared areas. Members can bring residents’ suggestions to Student Affairs staff and follows up with students on what is being done in response when concerns are shared. Additionally, the council suggestions activities and day trips to places like malls in Dubai or other places of regional interest.
Encouraging Service and Sustainability
The council also organizes donation drives, and participating in community volunteer service. These activities give students a chance to volunteer together to network and make new friends.
