Overview

Mission: The General Education Program constitutes the cornerstone of the academic foundation at the university. It is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required to meet the challenges of rigorous academic study across their majors and areas of concentration. Structured as a comprehensive program of 18 credit hours, the curriculum integrates the mandates of the UAE Higher Education Standards and the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) Guidelines on (issued 13 June 2024). It ensures coverage of English and Arabic language proficiency, UAE society and culture, as well as courses that cultivate innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, artificial intelligence, and problem-solving skills. Additionally, the program strengthens students’ capacities in critical and creative thinking, information technology, algorithms, and quantitative reasoning providing them with a holistic foundation that supports lifelong learning, leadership, and academic excellence. Through its bilingual structure, the program delivers courses in both English and Arabic, enabling students to develop advanced academic writing and rhetoric skills in both languages, while simultaneously engaging with contemporary themes such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and innovation ecosystems. This integrated approach fosters a deep understanding of the UAE’s cultural context, enhances global communication skills, and prepares graduates to thrive in a rapidly evolving, knowledge-driven society.


Vison: The General Education Program is a core component of the undergraduate curriculum, designed to provide students with a broad spectrum of knowledge and skills that complement their major fields of study. Through courses in advanced English and Arabic academic writing and rhetoric, UAE society, information technology, algorithms and problem-solving, artificial intelligence and generative AI, as well as innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, the program fosters strong foundations in communication, analytical reasoning, digital literacy, and creative problem-solving.This comprehensive framework equips students with the intellectual tools necessary to succeed in their academic programs while broadening their understanding of society and contemporary global challenges. By integrating both English and Arabic instruction, the program enhances bilingual proficiency, cultivates innovation-driven mindsets, and nurtures graduates capable of contributing effectively to the dynamic, knowledge-based economy of the UAE and beyond.

Goals: The General Education Program seeks to:
1. Enhance students’ competence in English and Arabic communication, both orally and in writing, through advanced courses in academic writing and rhetoric in both languages.
2. Strengthen quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills through courses in algorithms, logical reasoning, and structured approaches to challenges
3. Develop information literacy and digital proficiency by enabling students to locate, evaluate, use, and communicate information effectively across multiple formats.
4. Foster an understanding of UAE society, shared cultural heritage, and the humanities, while cultivating awareness of contemporary global challenges.
5. Promote scientific and technological awareness by introducing students to artificial intelligence and generative AI, emphasizing applications in the social, behavioral, and natural sciences.
6. Encourage the understanding and application of design thinking and innovation within the contexts of entrepreneurship and sustainability.

PLO (Program Learning Outcomes)
1. Apply interdisciplinary and advanced theoretical knowledge from the humanities, technology, and social sciences to evaluate and address national and international challenges.
2. Evaluate the cultural, ethical, and societal dimensions of the UAE heritage in relation to sustainability, citizenship, and intercultural engagement.
3. Write well-structured and persuasive academic essays and presentations in both English and Arabic that include credible research, demonstrate critical analysis, and employ rhetorical and communication strategies.
4. Employ computational, analytical, and AI-centered reasoning to solve problems and foster innovation through digital literacy and emerging technologies.
5. Develop innovative and sustainable projects that encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and community well-being.
6. Demonstrate ethical decision-making, collaborative leadership, and civic responsibility, coupled with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
