Fujairah University held its Annual Conference on the morning of Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Fujairah, in the presence of members of the Board of Trustees and with the participation of university vice presidents, faculty, and administrative staff.

In his keynote address, Dr. Suleiman Al Jasem, President of Fujairah University, opened the conference under the theme “The Future Rises from Here.” His remarks were followed by several strategic presentations on academic, financial, and administrative matters, in addition to breakout sessions. The conference concluded with an open evening session dedicated to discussing digital transformation in teaching and learning, focusing on key topics such as artificial intelligence in education, learning management systems, digital examinations, and educational data analytics.

Dr. Suleiman Al Jasem emphasized that the conference represented a significant opportunity for the university community to become familiar with the institution’s strategy, enhance communication among academic and administrative staff, and foster social bonds—especially with newly joined team members. He noted that the conference produced valuable outcomes and reached meaningful conclusions that will serve as a clear roadmap for the upcoming period. He confirmed that the conference will be held annually.

Speaking about the details of the event, Dr. Al Jasem stated that the conference was organized as part of the university’s preparations for the new academic year, which will commence on Monday, August 25, 2025. The agenda included the president’s keynote address, an overview of the university’s general direction, and its strategic plan for 2025–2031. It also included discussions on upcoming academic programs based on labor market needs and technological advancements, aligning with the national agenda for science, technology, and artificial intelligence. In essence, the conference laid out a clear work plan for the new academic year, which will be assessed during its implementation.

He added:
"The main conference papers covered academic, administrative, and financial aspects. On the academic side, the first paper addressed several important issues, most notably academic affairs and institutional transformation following the merger, along with new academic programs and priorities linked to the national agenda and the university’s general education outcomes. The second paper tackled financial sustainability, institutional efficiency, and post-merger administrative and financial strategies. It also addressed the continuity of financial resources by increasing student enrollment and activating the Continuing Education Center."

The university also showcased its current initiative of an Academic Endowment Fund, in collaboration with civil society organizations and business leaders, aimed at financially supporting the university through the creation of classrooms and labs that serve the educational process, providing financial aid to underprivileged students, and collecting zakat contributions for needy students.

Dr. Al Jasem noted that the conference included breakout sessions, including a panel on the merger experience between the two universities—its advantages and challenges—and how the newly formed “Fujairah University” successfully completed the merger in a record time. Another session discussed the structure of academic programs and their future opportunities, in addition to issues related to scientific research and how to shift from being a university that produces graduates to one that cultivates professional competencies.

Dr. Al Jasem affirmed that scientific research will be the cornerstone of the university’s future direction and strategy, in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah and Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees. His Highness emphasized the need to adopt scientific research as the university’s path, involving students, faculty, and the university at large to serve all sectors of society—especially economic, commercial, and social fields—while highlighting the importance of welcoming international students to enrich campus culture and foster cross-cultural exchange.

He also pointed out that the conference featured workshops on academic integrity and its role in education quality and outcomes, in addition to a session on the university’s role in approving new academic programs. Another session focused on community engagement in economic and social areas that offer students opportunities for field training within their academic specialties, enabling them to secure future employment.

The conference concluded with a general session dedicated to digital transformation in education, especially in areas such as artificial intelligence, smart learning systems, and digital examinations.
